Family Lürzer
In 1966, Herbert and Emilie Lürzer took over their parents' bed and breakfast with a connecting stable, which provided shelter for the cows farmed in Untertauern during the summer months. After building work in 1967 the Kesselspitze Bed and Breakfast opened its doors for the first time.
„40 years ago it was rather difficult to build anything outside the township, since there were no lift facilities nearby. We always had to give a little bit more than other hosts did. And it has stayed that way to this day.“
tr>| 1972 | Building of the first 4 star hotel Kesselspitze, already equipped with sauna and indoor pool, bar and 40 comfortable rooms. After only 7 months of construction work the hotel was ready to open. |
| 1974 | The Lürzer family was able to buy the piece of land that is now occupied by the Lürzer Alm Chalet. |
| 1977 | Building of the Lürzer Alm hut - this was initially meant to be a hot sausage snack hut. This is where the foundation was created for a type of refreshment and food offering that is still appreciated by many skiers and fans – it was copied many times throughout Austria. |
| 1978 | Extension to Hotel Kesselspitze with dining room and buffet. |
| 1980 | Extension to Hotel Kesselspitze with 15 rooms. |
| 1987 | Since the ski chalet was very well frequented from the very first day of its opening, the Lürzer Alm Chalet was extended slightly for the first time. |
| 1991 | Reconstruction of the indoor pool and creation of the “Tauern Thermal Spa” with cosmetics, massages and sauna complex, as well as extension to the rooms. |
| 1992 | Acquisition of the land for Hotel Frau Holle. |
| 1994 | Another extension to the Lürzer Alm chalet. During the same year the Hotel Garni Frau Holle with 28 rooms and underground car park, wellness area and beer pub was started. |
| 1995 | The Skiing School concession was received from the Landesregierung Salzburg for the Skiing School Obertauern Frau Holle. The same year saw the founding of Lürzer Obertauern GmbH & CoKG. |
| 1997 | Construction of a spacious hotel lobby with an old Swiss pine parlour, the “unicorn bar”, wine cellar etc at Hotel Kesselspitze. |
| 1999 | Purchase of old hotels edelweiss with 70 rooms. The hotel is in a unique location that was rebuilt by the getting on in years infrastructure into a modern sports hotel on the cutting edge of technology. |
| 2000 | Extension to the Lürzer Alm Chalet. |
| 2001 | Reconstruction at Hotel Kesselspitze, enlarging of the rooms, renewal of the employee wing as well as an extension to the wellness complex. During the same year the construction of the employee accommodation as well as an underground car park near Lürzer Alm Chalet. |
| 2002 | A fire at Lürzer Alm Chalet saw the popular ski-hut ruined, although services were kept going through the summer months with a provisional schedule. |
| 2003 | Complete new construction of Lürzer Alm chalet. |
| 2004 | Reconstruction work at Hotel Edelweiß. New infrastructure, renovation and extension of the dining room and enlargement of the buffet areas. At Hotel Kesselspitze renovation work of the entrance and reception areas as well as the buffet areas. |
| 2005 | Newly built wellness and conference centre Sports Hotel Edelweiss, renovation of the remaining rooms. |
| 2007 | Extension of the rooms and conference centre at Hotel Kesselspitze. |
| 2007 | Acquisition of the Edelweissalm Alpine chalet. |
| 2008 | Planning and building of a new ski rental and fashion store in Obertauern: FREUDENHAUS - the new sense of shopping. |
| 2009 | FREUDENHAUS Opening mid-November 2009. Renovation and extension of the youth room at Hotel Kesselspitze. |
| 2010 | Foundation of "Taxi Obertauern". Takeover and renovation of Sports Centre Obertauern. |
| 2011 | Opening of FREUDENHAUS Rentalstore Schaidberg, next to the Superior Hotel Kesselspitze, opening from FREUDENHAUS outlet store, which is located directly in the Sportzentrum Obertauern. |

Yes, at Lürzer Holidays things have moved along since the humble beginnings in 1966. Back then the Lürzer family employed three people. These days it’s more than 200 and still growing, just like the history of Lürzer Holidays, with a healthy portion of risk taking, true pioneer spirit and a love for tourism.
